about
This song was inspired by the failure of the Sanford, Florida Police to prosecute Trayvon Martins killer. The song is a work of fiction. The stand your ground laws were written to protect innocent people like Trayvon from being prosecuted for defending themselves against stalkers, bullies and robbers.
In the author's opinion Trayvon is the one who had the right to stand his ground against a large, heavier, gun packing person who got it in his head that Trayvon didn't belong where he was. He was being pursued, he stood his ground. He probably didn't know that the person following him had a gun and when he saw it, he was really scared. He had a right to defend himself. He had no way of knowing who the person was but probably felt very threatened.
